Bijoya & pre-Diwali celebrations organised by Leo Club of Silchar Greater

Nov. 13: The months starting from Durga Puja sends out a festive message to all. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the festivities were restricted to a great extent. However, abiding strictly by the COVID-19 protocols, Leo Club of Silchar Greater organized a cultural fest “Utsav”, The Fest of Greaters’ (Post Bijoya & Pre Diwali Celebration). The Leos got the full support and cooperation from the Lions Club of Silchar Greater.

The programme began with an inaugural dance by the members of Leo Club of Silchar Greater which was performed by Leo Neha Chakraborty, Leo Parnasree Das & Leo Tanushree Sarma. Chief Guest Swarnali Choudhuri inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. It was followed by the welcome speech of the President of Leo Club of Silchar Greater, Leo Debosmita Biswas.

The Guests of Honour for the evening were Lion Jagadish Chandra Banik, Region Chairperson of Region 4, Lions District 322G and also the Chairman of Barak Valley Lions Co-ordination Forum; Lion Joynal Uddin Laskar, Region Chairperson Region 6 of Lions District 322G, Lion Ipshita Dutta, Region Chairperson Region 5 of Lions District 322G and Lion Gautam Deb Roy, Inter-region coordinator of Lions District 322G and also the Special Guests, Leo Abhishek Chakraborty, Vice District President of Leo District 322G; Leo Nandini Bhattacharjee, Deputy District Secretary of Leo District 322G; Leo Tamal Banik, Region Chairperson 2 of Leo District 322G and Leo Dhriti Sundar Paul, Zone Chairperson 3 of Leo District 322G.

Lion Arindam Bhattacharjee, the District Treasurer of Lions District 322G; Lion Sakhi Bhattacharjee & Lion Tuhina Biswas, Zone Chairpersons of Lions District 322G, Lion Sanchita Acharjee, the President of Lions Club of Silchar City; Lion Nupur Banik; Lion Sarbani Goswami, Leo Advisor of Leo Club of Centurion and Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul, Principal of Women’s College Silchar and also the Cachar District President of Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum graced the occasion.

Pratiksha Mahanta, Anoushka Dutta and others enthralled the audience by their dance performances. Further, songs by Adrita Dutta and Nilakshi Bhattacharjee were also praiseworthy. Prizes of few competitions that were organised previously were also distributed during the day. The competitions were “Positivity in POSITIVEs”, “Focus” (photography contest on World Photography Day) and “Little Splash” (an online art competition for kids on Gandhi Jayanti).

Leo advisor of Leo Club of Silchar Greater, Lion Sabyasachee Rudra Gupta; President of the Lions Club of Silchar Greater, Lion Anoop Dutta and President of Leo Club of Silchar Greater, Leo Debosmita Biswas also graced the occasion and gave relevant speeches. Leo Subhajit Das, the Secretary of Leo Club of Silchar Greater presented the Vote of Thanks and the programme ended with the National Anthem. The programme was compered by Leo Sweta Roy, Director of Leo Club of Silchar Greater.
