Barak Valley registers 83 positive cases on Sunday

July 26: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Sunday, the number of fresh cases again increased in the valley. A total of 83 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley. Further, a total of 70 patients were discharged from the three districts of the Valley on Sunday.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Sunday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 53 positive cases
  • Karimganj: 14 positive cases
  • Hailakandi: 16 positive cases

With 53 new cases of COVID-19 positive on Sunday, Cachar recorded a total of 1201 cases of coronavirus as of now. Out of them were 4 police personnel, Nodal Officer and health worker of Foreigners’ Tribunal at Rongpur, employees of a vehicle showroom at Rongpur, personnel of Assam Rifles, many civilians. Apart from a few with travel history, majority of them were contaminated from close contact with lab confirmed case, Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP), Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and SARI symptoms. Positive cases were detected during the day from a number of places like Central Road, Hailakandi Road, Tarapur, National Highway etc.

On Sunday, 16 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from Hailakandi district, taking the total tally to 827. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 16 positive cases on Sunday, two cases have been detected under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). 24 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of persons released to 663. The number of active cases in the district is currently 162.

Karimganj district recorded 14 COVID-19 positive cases on Sunday. With this, the district recorded a total of 547 cases of coronavirus. Further, 28 patients were discharged during the day. The district has recorded a total of 3 deaths till now.

Apart from the valley, a total of 1142 persons tested positive in Assam on Sunday, thereby taking the state tally to 32,228. As of now, there are 8106 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 985 patients were also discharged from across the state during the day. With this, a total of 24,040 persons were discharged in Assam. Moreover, during the day, 2 persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally to 79.

India reported a spike of 48,661 covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of reported cases to 13,85,522, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total count include 4,67,882 active cases,8,85,577 cured/ discharged/ migrated. With 705 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 32,063.
