If situation does not worsen, night curfew at 6 PM from 9 Aug & inter-district travel from 16 Aug: Himanta

July 2: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a revised and consolidated Covid-19 directive on 2 August, 2021 again for both rural and urban areas which will remain in force from 5 AM of August 3, 2021 until further orders. There will be no round the clock curfew in Assam.

Expressing his views, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing journalists on the sidelines of his visit to Udalguri on Monday said, “In all districts round the clock curfew has been withdrawn. There will be partial curfew from 2 PM in Golaghat & Lakhimpur. But in the rest of the districts the curfew will be from 5 PM to 5 AM. If this can be maintained properly and the number of cases comes down then on 7 August, we will come up with new SOP, as per which, all districts will remain open till 6 PM. The new SOP shall come into effect from 9 August (Monday). We will be observing the developments during the next 7 days. If situation improves, then I will try to give relaxations till 6 PM.” So from the words of the Chief Minister, it seems that if Covid situation improves during this week, then from 9 August curfew may be imposed in the districts from 6 PM to 5 AM.

As regards inter-district travel, CM Biswa Sarma said, “From 16 August, we will allow inter-district movement.” It needs mention here that the state government had imposed inter-district movement to curb the further spread of Covid-19.
