Assembly polls to be held in full compliance to Covid protocol; training going on in Cachar

Feb. 18: The forthcoming Assembly elections in Assam will be held in full compliance to COVID-19 protocol. Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar imparted training to the Master Trainers on the hand hygiene, wear of personal protective equipment etc. The Master Trainers will in turn train the polling staff to abide by the Covid protocol. Dr. Ibrahim also demonstrated how to wear the PPE kit.

The second phase of training for the Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMT) for imparting training to the polling personnel and organising EVM awareness programme in connection with forthcoming Assembly Election in Assam began on Monday in Cachar district. The 2nd phase of the training session will continue for 4 days till Friday. A total of 148 ALMTs will be trained in these four days. Training is imparted to them at Gandhi Bhavan, Silchar in small groups consisting of around 36 trainees on each day. Nabanita Hazarika, Election Officer is coordinating the training sessions.

The ALMTs will be trained by a group of 8 Master Trainers comprised of Sudipta Bijoy Dutta Choudhury (Bapi), Sudarshan Gupta, Arunabha Bhattacharjee, Dr. Sudip Choudhury, Dr. Gongesh Bhattacharjee, Dr Apratim Nag, Saumitra Nath, Joydeep Paul and Sagarmoy Das. Moreover, Sudeep Nath, Circle Officer of Sonai also imparted training on COVID-19 guidelines. Further, training on Covid protocol was imparted by Dr. Kh. Gautam Singh and Dr. Nasmeena Laskar.

The Election Commission of India has not yet declared the poll dates but are expected to do so within this month. Assam is supposed to go for the assembly polls in the month of March-April, 2021.
