Assembly polls likely to declared by ECI in 1st week of March, hints PM Modi in Dhemaji

Feb. 22: Addressing a massive gathering after laying the foundation of a slew of projects worth over Rs 3,300 crore in Dhemaji, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he will visit Assam and other poll-bound states as many times as possible before elections are announced. The PM also indicated that the schedule for the assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry could be announced in the first week of next month.

“I know you all are waiting for the election. If we assume March 7 as the date of election announcement, since last time it was announced on March 4, 2016, this time it could be announced around that time. Whatever time I get in the interim, I will try to keep coming to meet you all,” he said at a public meeting in Assam’s Dhemaji.
