Assam University Celebrates Republic Day with Patriotic Fervour and Academic Pride

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৬ জানুয়ারি : দেশাত্মবোধ, ঐক্য ও শৈক্ষিক সাফল্যের আবহে ৭৭তম প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবস উদযাপিত হল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে। রাজা রামমোহন রায় প্রশাসনিক ভবনের সামনে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলনের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা করেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ। এরপর সমবেত কণ্ঠে জাতীয় সংগীত পরিবেশন করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এনসিসি ক্যাডেট ও নিরাপত্তা কর্মীদের পক্ষ থেকে উপাচার্যকে গার্ড অব অনার প্রদান করা হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থ দেশের আন্তর্জাতিক অবস্থান সম্পর্কে দৃঢ় প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করেন। তিনি বলেন, স্বাধীনতার পর থেকে ভারত ক্রমশ শক্তিশালী হয়েছে এবং আজ বিশ্বে এমন কোনও দেশ নেই যারা ভারতের ওপর শর্ত চাপিয়ে দিতে পারে। তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, নানা নিষেধাজ্ঞা ও কূটনৈতিক চাপ থাকা সত্ত্বেও দেশের সার্বভৌমত্ব ও জাতীয় স্বার্থ রক্ষায় কোনও আপোষ করা হচ্ছে না।

বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অগ্রগতির প্রসঙ্গে উপাচার্য জানান, ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউশনাল র‍্যাঙ্কিং ফ্রেমওয়ার্ক ২০২৫-এ দেশের সেরা ১০০ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তালিকায় ফের স্থান করে নিতে সক্ষম হয়েছে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। গবেষণা অনুদান, প্রকাশনা, পেটেন্ট, আন্তঃপ্রাতিষ্ঠানিক সহযোগিতা, ক্রীড়া পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন ও নানা উদ্ভাবনী কার্যক্রমে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় উল্লেখযোগ্য সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে। প্রশংসা করেন অধ্যাপক এম গঙ্গাভূষণ নেতৃত্বাধীন এনএসএস সেলেরও। পাশাপাশি পরিসংখ্যান বিভাগের ড. বিবেক ভার্মার উদ্যোগে দুস্থদের চিকিৎসা ও স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা প্রদানের কথাও বিশেষ ভাবে উল্লেখ করেন।

ক্রীড়াক্ষেত্রে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সাফল্যের কথাও তুলে ধরেন উপাচার্য। তিনি জানান, আধুনিক মানের একটি ইনডোর স্টেডিয়াম নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে, যেখানে আগামী মার্চ মাসে ইন্টার-ইউনিভার্সিটি সেপাক তাকরো ন্যাশনাল চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এদিন দেশাত্মবোধক সংগীত পরিবেশন করেন পারফর্মিং আর্টস বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীরা। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ, বিত্ত আধিকারিক ড. শুভদীপ ধর, পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক ড. সুপ্রবীর দত্ত রায় সহ শিক্ষক-শিক্ষাকর্মী-শিক্ষার্থীরা।

Way2barak, January 26 : The 77th Republic Day was celebrated at Assam University amid an atmosphere of patriotism, unity, and academic achievement. The programme began with Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant hoisting the national flag in front of the Raja Rammohan Roy Administrative Building, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem in unison. NCC cadets of the university and security personnel presented a Guard of Honour to the Vice Chancellor.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Pant expressed strong confidence in India’s position on the global stage. He said that since Independence, India has steadily grown stronger, and today there is no country in the world that can impose conditions on India. He emphasized that despite various sanctions and diplomatic pressures, the nation has not compromised on safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests.

Speaking about the university’s progress, the Vice Chancellor informed that Assam University has once again secured a place among the top 100 universities in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025. He highlighted the university’s significant achievements in research grants, publications, patents, inter-institutional collaborations, development of sports infrastructure, and various innovative initiatives. He also praised the NSS Cell led by Prof. M Gangabhushan. Special mention was made of the initiative by Dr. Bibek Verma of the Department of Statistics for providing medical and healthcare services to the underprivileged.

The Vice Chancellor also spoke about the university’s achievements in sports. He announced that a modern indoor stadium has been constructed, which will host the Inter-University Sepak Takraw National Championship in March this year. On the occasion, students of the Department of Performing Arts presented patriotic songs. The programme was attended by Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Finance Officer Dr. Shubhadeep Dhar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Suprabir Dutta Roy, along with faculty members, staff, and students.
