Assam registers 8 more COVID-19 deaths including 2 from Barak Valley
August 13: Assam registered 8 more COVID-19 deaths. With this, the death tally of the state has now gone upto 169. This was tweeted by State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday night.
Four persons who were COVID-19 positive died at SMCH on Wednesday. Their reports were sent to State Death Audit Board for confirmation. However, as per sources, the four persons who passed away are Abdul Ahad Laskar (18) from Hailakandi. He was admitted at SMCH at 1.42 PM on Wednesday with acute liver failure. He, however, collapsed within an hour on the same day. The 3 others who lost their lives are Dhaneshwar Singha (78) from Patharkandi in Karimganj district, Biplob Kumar Karmakar (67) from Badarpur and Biswajit Kar (53) from Lakhipur in Cachar.
Out of the 4 deceased at SMCH on Wednesday, the State Death Audit Board has recognised 2 of the cases as death due to COVID-19. The two persons certified by the Board to have died of COVID-19 are Dhaneshwar Sinha (78) of Karimganj and Biswajit Kar (53) of Cachar.
The other six persons from Assam who succumbed to COVID-19 are Anita Biswas (47), Bipul Saikia (53), Bholanath Das (39) Sofiquddin Laskar (58) of Dibrugarh; Khogesori Devi (53) of Lakhimpur; Mangal C Ray (43) of Bongaigaon.
