Assam registers 16 more fatalities due to COVID-19 on Monday, death toll rises to 578

Sept. 21: On Monday, 16 more persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam. With this, the death toll in the state reached 578 as of now. In a tweet on Monday night, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Very sad and anguished to inform that 16 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease. My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.” The 16 deceased were identified as:

• Kamini Barua (62) & Jayanta Kumar Gogoi (64) of Charaideo
• Yunus Ansari (74) & Khogendra Nath Borah (70) of Dibrugarh
• Chunu Roy (59) of Goalpara
• Kanak Das (57) & Sudhir Ranjan Das (79) of Dhubri
• Tapan Chakraborty (40), Pradip Kumar Das (73) & Ganesh Kalita (75) of Kamrup Metro
• Naranath Chetia (79) of Sivasagar
• Dipen Gogoi (33) of Golaghat
• Sureshwar Bora (65) & Nagen Borah (72) of Jorhat
• Karimuddin (63) of Hojai
