Odd, even also not applicable for vehicles of bank officials, media persons & those in essential services

May 13: In addition to the earlier Order issued by the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson DDMA, Cachar on 12 May, 2021 as regards the restriction in purview of plying of vehicles with odd and even numbers, it was stated in another even dated addendum that the restrictions will not be applicable in respect of vehicles of Bank Officials, Media persons and vehicles engaged in Essential Govt. Services. This order would come into force with immediate effect.

In the previous order No. DDMA.39/ CHR/2021/59, Dated:12/05/2021 it was stated that the restriction of odd and even numbers will not be applicable in respect of Government vehicles/ water tankers/ milk carrying vans/ ambulance/ LPG distribution vans/ vehicles hired/ private used for medical duty/ COVID-19 Duty on production of valid ID proof and personal vehicles used for medical emergency. However, after the issue of the addendum, vehicles of Bank Officials, Media persons and vehicles engaged in Essential Govt. Services could also ply irrespective of the odd/ even formula.

The initial order issued on 12 May specified that in view of significant increase of Covid-19 positive cases in Cachar District and in pursuant of an order issued by Government of Assam on Wednesday, the restriction regarding plying of private and personal vehicles have been made from 5 AM to 2 PM in Cachar District.

Issuing an order to this effect on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar. Keerthi Jalli stated :

  • Vehicle with odd number will be allowed to ply on odd dates. (Example: Vehicle number ending with 1/3/5/7/9 on 13th/ 15th/ 17th/ 19th/ 21st/ 23rd/ 25th May, 2021 etc.)
  • Vehicle with even number will be allowed to ply on even dates. (Example: Vehicle number ending with 0/2/4/6/8 on 14th/ 16th/ 18th/ 20th/ 22nd/ 24th/ 26th May, 2021 etc.)

The District Transport Officer, Cachar will ensure the implementation of the above direction for plying of vehicles including the restriction mentioned in the Govt. order.
