APDCL Exam: Congress complains to ECI alleging violation of Model Code
April 27: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday sent a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), wherein it was alleged that conducting written examination for employment in Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) on 28 April, 2019 is in sharp violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The letter written by Ranjan Bora, General Secretary, (Org), APCC states that as the MCC is still in force, the conduct of examination by APDCL for the posts of Office-cum-Field Assistants and Sahayaks is nothing but blatant violation of the model code. The letter further stated that, “This is a clear instance of violation of the MCC by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam since the MCC continues to be applicable till the declaration of the results of the Lok Sabha Election, 2019 i.e. till 23rd May, 2019.”
It is in this backdrop that APCC urged upon the ECI “to take appropriate steps against the violation of the MCC by the power department of Assam, the APDCL authorities and BJP” and to take necessary measures to ‘stop the examination.’ Thousands of candidates in the three districts of Barak Valley will also be appearing for the said examination on Sunday.
