Annual Festival of Riyan International School celebrated

way2barak Dec 7: The second annual cultural festival of Riyan International School, “Riyan Utsab 2025,” was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Banga Bhavan, Silchar, on the evening of 5th December. The vibrant programme showcased not only the academic excellence of the students but also their remarkable cultural growth, capturing the attention of everyone present. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the invited guests. The School Anthem performed by the students and the welcome address by Principal Mrs. Supriya Das added dignity and grace to the occasion.

This was followed by the Inaugural Song by the educators and a tribute to the late artist Zubeen Garg. The Chief Guest for the evening was Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Director of the College Development Council, Assam University. The Special Guests included Dr. Diganta Goswami, Principal of Barak Valley Engineering College, and Mr. Dipak Sengupta, retired teacher of Adhar Chand Higher Secondary School. Director Mr. Kalipada Das and several well-wishers of the school were also present. The Academic Director, Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul, delivered an insightful speech, briefly highlighting the school’s future plans. All distinguished guests expressed appreciation for the school’s progress within just two years and praised the talents of the students and the dedicated efforts of the teachers.

The packed auditorium witnessed a wide range of performances that filled the stage with colour and energy. The audience was especially delighted by the dances and songs presented by the tiny tots of Nursery, KGI, KG II, and Class I. The programme also featured Bishnupriya dance, Puppet dance, Action Rhymes, various ramp walks, Assamese dance, Dhamail, an emotionally powerful dramatic portrayal of freedom fighter Surya Sen’s execution, and a dramatic adaptation of the Draupadi Vastra-Haran episode from the Mahabharata highlighting women empowerment. In total, more than 30 performances won the admiration of the audience.

The event also included felicitation of the Chief Guest and invited guests, as well as special recognitions for a few parents. The Inter-Club Competition awards were also distributed.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by teacher Sanchari Bhattacharjee, who was responsible for coordinating the entire event.
The colourful and creative celebration became a wonderful platform for the students of Riyan International School to showcase their talents.

The entire programme was skillfully anchored by teachers Saheli Choudhury and Subhasish Choudhury.
