Amarnath Yatra cancelled due to Covid-19 for 2nd consecutive year
June 22: The annual Amarnath Yatra has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. This was announced by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj SInha. He further informed that the Yatra will be symbolic only. All the rituals will be done at the holy shrine. This 56-day pilgrimage to the 3,880 metre high cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the upper reaches of the Himalayas has been cancelled for the second consecutive year due to Covid-19. The Yatra was supposed to start on 28 June and end on 22 August.

However, all the traditional religious rituals shall be performed at the Holy Cave Shrine as per past practice, ” tweeted the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday.
