Ahead of X-mas, Shillong turns white due to hailstorm; temperature drops to 6 degrees celsius

Dec. 22: Photographs and videos of snowfall in Shillong and some other parts of Meghalaya have become viral since Wednesday morning. The temperature dropped to 6 degrees Celsius as the hill station turned white. The city witnessed massive hailstorm, with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall almost the whole day. Even the streets of Shillong were covered with snow.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan region from 22 to 25 December. Light to moderate rain is very likely tomorrow, as per the weather forecast.
