July 7: In a great relief to the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates, the Assam cabinet on Wednesday decided that the validity of TET certificates to be extended for life time. Further, the Cabinet provided a scope of betterment in case of TET qualified candidates. The cabinet stated, “TET-qualified candidates can appear in betterment exam.”
The weekly Assam Cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday in Dispur which was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Taking to his twitter handle, CM Assam wrote, “We took some major decisions in #AssamCabinet in interest of SHGs, good governance, etc. Decisions include protocols on playing of State/National anthems & serving traditional food in Govt meetings, best employee awards, extending validity of TET certificates, etc.” The cabinet decisions were informed in a press briefing by Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Bimal Borah & Political Secretary to the CM Jayanta Malla Baruah.
Earlier, on October 2020, the central government notified that the certificates of CTET qualified candidates will be valid for lifetime. Previously, the CTET certificates were valid for only 7 years. That means, if any TET qualified candidate could not get job within 7 years, then he/she should have to reappear in CTET. However, this was declared null and void and since October 2020, CTET certificates were made valid for lifetime.
