40 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Monday, 100 discharged & 4 deaths at SMCH

There are 457 active Covid cases at present in Cachar

July 5:  A total of 41 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Monday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 4,983 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 40 were found positive, whereas the RT-PCR test results for the day was not made available till the filing of this report. Also, 100 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged during the day. At present, there are 457 active cases of coronavirus in the district. It needs mention here that 41 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Monday.

Further, during the day, 1,933 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Cachar district. With this, a total number of 4,05,328 persons got the vaccine doses in the district.

Though the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam has considerably decreased, yet incidents of death of Covid positive patients are still reported from the three districts of Southern Assam. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 July to 5 PM on 5 July) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the four deceased, two of them are from Cachar, one from Hailakandi and another one from Karimganj.

The deceased were identified as M Haloi (35) from Patherkandi in Karimganj district, Gopa Dam (61) from Das Colony in Silchar, Hirendra Singha (75) from Kolarpar in Hailakandi district and Misbahuddin Choudhury (72) from Kazidohore Part 3 in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 30 June. He died at 8.45 AM on 5 July.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 5 July, there were 115 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 53 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 62 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 77 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 14 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 19 of them were discharged.
