47-year-old female Covid patient die at Silchar Medical College

55 patients in ICU, 12 in ventilator support & 88 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 29: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month. But for two consecutive days, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) did not witness the demise of any Covid-19 positive patient. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 28 June to 5 PM on 29 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at SMCH. The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as:

  • Rajlakshmi Sharma (47) from Bajaricherra in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 27 June. She however, passed away at 8.30 PM on 28 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 29 June, there were 137 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 55 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 82 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 12 patients were put under ventilator support and 88 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 21 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 13 of them were discharged.
