Strange but true! Man nabbed for supplying drugs at Covid Care Centre in Tripura

June 6: In a unusual incident, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans nabbed a man for supplying narcotics to a person at a Covid Care Centre (CCC) in Panisagar in North Tripura district. As per the police, a man identified as Shibu Debbarma came to the Covid Care Centre on Thursday. The man initially told that he had gone there to give a mobile charger to his friend Dipankar Roy, a Covid positive patient, who was undergoing treatment over there.

However, his body language seemed suspicious to the TSR jawans deployed there at the Covid Care Centre. The jawans on searching recovered seven pouches of brown sugar hidden in the packet carrying the mobile charger. Shibu Debbarma, a resident of Ambasa Magazine Para in Dhalai district of Tripura was immediately apprehended.

A case was registered against the accused Shibu Debbarma under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. He was later produced in front of the Dharmanagar district sessions court.
