With 194 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 668 on 24 May, 6 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 2,569 in Cachar; 274 patients discharged on Monday

May 24: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Monday at 11.20 PM. As per the latest data, 194 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 668 persons were found positive in the district on 24 May. This is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the district since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 474 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,569. Also, 274 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Sunday was 302.

As per the updated data, a total of 7,297 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 459 persons were found positive, whereas 209 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 7,253 in 2021, whereas during the year, 4,631 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, Suman Choudhury informed that out of the 2,569 active patients:

  • 268 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 13 at MH
  • 45 at SMDCH
  • 43 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 20 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 18 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 15 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 2 at Valley Hospital
  • 23 at South City Hospital
  • 02 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 25 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
  • 2,073 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 06 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 06 deceased, 03 are from Cachar district, 02 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Adbul Madrib (53) from Badarpur in Karimganj district, Amalendu Deb (70) from Hailakandi, Samarendra Chandra Paul (63) from Shyamananda Lane, Silchar, Surajit Bhumijh (40) from Kalinagar in Cachar, Sukia Koiri (47) from Tilunagar in Cachar and Santosh Namasudra (55) from Batunagar in Karimganj.
