6 more Covid +ve patients die at SMCH in last 24 hours

92 patients in ICU, 25 in ventilator support & 152 put under oxygen at SMCH

May 24: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 06 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 06 deceased, 03 are from Cachar district, 02 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

  • Adbul Madrib (53) from Badarpur in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 22 May. He died at 11.40 PM on 23 May.
  • Amalendu Deb (70) from Hailakandi took admission at SMCH on 23 May. He breathed his last at 4.10 AM on 24 May.
  • Samarendra Chandra Paul (63) from Shyamananda Lane, Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 24 May. He passed away at 6.20 AM on 24 May.
  • Surajit Bhumijh (40) from Kalinagar in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 21 May. He expired at 7.50 AM on 24 May.
  • Sukia Koiri (47) from Tilunagar in Cachar took admission at SMCH on 23 May. She succumbed to the infection at 8.50 AM on 24 May.
  • Santosh Namasudra (55) from Batunagar in Karimganj took admission at SMCH on 24 May. He, however, passed away on the same day at 12.30 PM.
