Constructive criticism is always welcome, but don’t demoralise health officials, says DC Cahar

May 22: Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli made a sudden visit at Sonai PHC & Harina MPHC along with Circle Officer, Sonai DPM & DME, NHM, Cachar. During her surprise visit to Sonai PHC, the Deputy Commissioner take stock of the facilities available there. She was accompanied by the Circle Officer, Sonai.

Expressing her views, DC Jalli said, “I am happy to find that the health team was working round the clock here. Till today, 198 phone calls were made from Sonai block to avail the services of tele-counselling. They were successfully provided guidance about the do’s and don’ts during home isolation. During tele-counselling, information were also given as regards when to shift to hospitals.”

As regards vaccination, the Deputy Commissioner said, “I have also checked the cold storage of vaccination. It is in functional condition. Further, vaccination location, testing location and waste management was also inspected by me. They are doing their best and taking the challenges in their stride. The fight against Covid-9 is not a matter of a single day. It’s a fight for 24×7.” She assures that vaccine will be provided to everybody in a phased manner.

She further said that many in the team of the health department were also detected as Covid positive. Inspite of that, they were working from home and doing the task of data entry. Appealing to the public, DC Jalli said, “Please stay very careful. During this 2nd wave, most patients are having mild fever. Even symptoms like cough and cold are less found among the people. So don’t think that by merely taking a paracetamol and staying at home will be fine. The infection of lungs happens very fast this time. So please take medical advice and go for testing in case of any slight symptoms also.”

She further appealed the public to cooperate with the health teams. “They are trying their best and are working day and night. Manpower is limited and challenges are many. They are fighting this pandemic on behalf of all of us. So it should be our duty to provide maximum support to the health teams. If the conditions are bad, constructive criticism is always welcome, but don’t demoralise health officials. Whatever possible, they are doing that and if anything is missing, we will definitely solicit your positive suggestions and abide by them.”

As regards burial or cremation of Covid cases, DC said that she has made a detailed discussion in this regard with all MLAs of Cachar. She added, “The burials and cremation of those who have died due to Covid will take place across the district.”
