5,803 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Monday, 4,231 patients discharged & 77 deaths registered

Active cases 37,500 in Assam

May 10: On Monday, out of 72,197 tests, 5,803 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. This is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid cases in Assam in 2021. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,98,171. The positivity rate in the state is 8.04 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,481 positive cases during the day. Further, on Monday, 77 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. This is the highest single day death toll in Assam due to coronavirus. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,753.

It needs mention here that on Sunday, 3,299 persons tested positive in Assam and 48 deaths were registered.

On Monday, 4,231 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,57,571 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 86.38 percent.

Further, during the day, 77 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 77 deceased, 40 are from Kamrup Metro; 10 each from Kamrup Rural & Dibrugarh; 4 from Bongaigaon; 3 each from Golaghat, Nagaon, Nalbari & Sivasagar; 2 each from Hojai, Tinsukia & Udalguri; 1 each from Darrang, Dhubri, Jorhat, Sonitpur & Karimganj. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,753.
