Asstt Professor of NIT Silchar dies due to Covid-19

April 24: In a tragic incident, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar breathed his last after being infected with coronavirus. He was around 40 years of age and is survived by his wife and a 3-year old daughter. The deceased teacher Dr Baban H Shambharkar went to his native place Nagpur in Maharashtra after his mother expired around 20 days ago. Unfortunately, he was tested positive in Nagpur. 

After being detected as Covid-19 positive, Dr Baban H Shambharkar was admitted in a hospital in Nagpur. He was symptomatic. However, the doctors ultimately failed to save Dr Shambharkar and he expired on Friday. Since joining at NIT, Silchar in 2013, Dr Baban H Shambharkar used to live in the quarter at the campus. His death was mourned by the entire NIT, Silchar fraternity.
