Amid rising Covid-19 cases, govt shares reduced price list of Remdesivir

April 18: Amid spike in the coronavirus cases throughout the country, the Union government has made a positive intervention as regards the prices of Remdesivir. The prices of Remdesivir injections has now been reduced by the manufacturers. There were several media reports wherein it was stated that this injection used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients is sold in black markets at a higher price. The Union government has also shared the revised price list.

Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral medication which is administered via injection into a vein. Remdesivir is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized adults. Remdesivir has been studied in several clinical trials for the treatment of COVID-19. The recommendations from the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) are based on the results of these studies.
