11 traffic signals at 4-way junction & 5 at 3-way point proposed for Silchar town, suggestion sought

Feb. 8: After analysis of all location, it has been found that traffic signal light has become a necessity in Silchar town. However, considering the project cost, the administration has finalised 11 traffic signals at 4-way junction point and 5 number of 3-way (T-type) junctions. In a Facebook Post, District Administration Cachar wrote, “Proposed traffic signal points across the town. Request public to please go through the list and suggest any alternate or additional traffic points as we believe in a participatory approach.”

The following are the proposed location of traffic signals to be installed in Silchar:

1. Sadarghat Point: To incorporate the junction of Bewanji Bazar, Janiganj road & Kalibari Road: 4-way crossing.
2. Capital Travels point: To incorporate the junction of Central road, Sadarghat Point & Trunk Road: T-Type of junction.
3. Devdoot Point: To incorporate the junction of Central road & Circuit House Road: T-Type of junction.
4. SBI Park Road: To incorporate the junction of SBI Park road, & DC Bungalow: T-Type of Junction.
5. India Club Point: To incorporate the junction of Police Control Room Road, Captain Nalini Mohan Road, Trunk Road, Tarapur Road: 4-way crossing.
6. Chirukandi Point: To incorporate the junction of Silchar Town & Karimganj Road: T-Type of junction.
7. Tulapatty- Bhowal Point: To incorporate the junction of DIG Point, Capital Point, Janiganj Road & Central Road: 4-way crossing.
8. Dewanji Bazar Point: To incorporate the junction of Central Road, Dewanji Bazar Road, Gopalganj Road & Nazirpatty Road: 4-way crossing.
9. Big Bazar Point: To incorporate the junction of Dewanji Bazar & Market Road: T-Type of junction.
10. Premtola Point: To incorporate the junction of Big Bazar Road, LB Road, Bazar Street Road & Jail Road: 4-way crossing.
11. L.B. Road: To incorporate the junction of Premtola Point, Deshabandhu Point, Lochan Bairagi Road & street: 4-way crossing.
12. Chandicharan Road Point: To incorporate the junction of Hospital Road, Rangirkhari Road, Street & Chandicharan Road: 4-way crossing
13. National Highway (Chiitaranjan Avenue Road) Point: To incorporate the junction of Medical college Road, Town: 4-way crossing.
14. PWD Point: To incorporate the junction of Chirukandi, PWD Road, Tarapur Road, Circuit House Road: 4-way crossing.
15. Chencoorie Point: To incorporate the junction of Suja Road, NH Way, Chencoorie Garden & Silchar: 4-way crossing.
16. Sadar P.S. Point: To incorporate the junction of Janiganj Road, Kalibari Road, Dewanji Bazar & Name not located: 4-way crossing.

These are the location of traffic signal point in the DPR. The administration has sought suggestions from the public for any alternate or additional traffic points.
