Indefinite strike launched by 10,323 terminated teachers in Tripura

Dec. 8: A total of 10,323 teachers were recruited by the then Left Front Government in Tripura in 2010. But subsequently, the Supreme Court had terminated the teachers from their jobs due to faulty recruitment Policy. During the Assembly polls of 2018, the BJP promised to amend the rues and recruit again the terminated teachers. However, since then two years have passed. BJP though won the state polls and Biplob Deb became the Chief Minister of Tripura, but these terminated teachers were not yet recruited.

Finally, the 10,323 terminated teachers in Tripura have started an indefinite sit-in demonstration from Monday onwards in front of the City Centre in Agartala. The agitating teachers are being also joined by their family members. Earlier, on Sunday evening, the terminated teachers organized a rally in Agartala city, serving an ultimatum to the State government to fulfill its poll promise.

Meanwhile, a team of terminated teachers met Chief Minister Biplab Deb two months back, who had then assured the teachers of addressing their grievances within two months. But nothing has materialised, said an agitating teacher who is a recipient of the President’s Award before losing his job.
