60 tests +ve in Cachar on Monday, 2 more deaths registered at SMCH
Oct. 12: On Monday, a total of 60 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 5021 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 59 persons were found positive, whereas 01 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,776. It needs mention here that 32 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, 212 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 322 persons were collected. 426 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 02 of them tested positive. Further, 556 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 07 were found positive.
Apart from this, 07 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 14 were discharged. At present, there are 101 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 17 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 16 patients are now in critical condition. Another 08 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 220 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 417 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 2 patients have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH, out of them, 1 is from Cachar and the other is from Tripura. As of now, there were 158 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 158 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
