Bodo will be the Associate Official Language for Assam: State Cabinet

Oct. 7: The Assam State Cabinet has taken two important decisions as per which, Bodo will be the Associate official language for the entire state of Assam. The 2nd decision which was taken is that the Bodo Kachari autonomous welfare Council will be outside 6th schedule area for welfare of Bodo community. This was confirmed in a tweet by State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

On 28 September, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam in a notification issued renamed Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) to Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) with immediate effect under the sixth schedule of the Constitution of India. It needs mention here that this renaming of BTAD was one of the provisions of the Bodo Peace Accord signed on January 27, 2020.
