150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi to be celebrated in Cachar

Sept.25: The Government of Assam will observe the two-year long commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which will conclude on October 2 with a week-long programme. The Cachar district administration is also going to organise programmes like virtual lectures, webinars, seminars, conferences, debates, quizzes, exhibitions and other events focussing on the Father of the Nation during the week-long celebrations.

In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, measures like maintaining social distancing, wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizer, hand wash and thermal screening, avoiding large congregations and other Covid-19 protocols by the respective authorities will also be observed during the programme.

Issuing a letter to this effect here on Friday, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy has urged all heads of offices to chalk out suitable programmes in the respective offices as per government instructions focusing on Gandhiji during the week-long celebrations. This was stated in a Press Release issued from the Office of DDIPR, Silchar.
