96 tests +ve in Cachar on Tuesday; 2 more deaths at SMCH

Sept. 8: On Tuesday, 96 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, 1042 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 73 were found positive; whereas another 23 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Tuesday night. It needs mention here that 85 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 247 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 491 persons were collected. 824 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 62 of them tested positive. Further, 213 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 20 were found positive.

Apart from this, 24 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 28 were discharged. At present, there are 197 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 1 in ventilation. 25 patients are now in critical condition. Another 46 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 90 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 166 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that 2 patients died at SMCH in the last 24 hours. Both of them are from Cachar district. As of now, there were 119 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 117 deaths, 44 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
