Doctor & his college principal wife absconds after pouring boiling water on minor domestic help

September 2: In an inhuman act, a Dibrugarh based doctor, Siddhi Prasad Deori poured a bowl of boiling water on a 12-year-old domestic help when he was fast asleep. The minor boy sustained severe burn injuries on his ears, neck, shoulder and upper part of the body.

The accused Dr Siddhi Prasad Deori and his wife Mitali Konwar, Principal of Moran College engaged illegally the 12 years old boy as domestic help in their house on April 2019. The child said that he used to do domestic chores, wash vehicles, etc. and was frequently beaten with a cane. On being informed, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) & personnel from Childline rushed to the house of the doctor in Milannagar in Dibrugarh and rescued the minor immediately. The minor domestic help hailed from upper Deori village in Jorhat district.

CWC lodged an FIR with the police against the couple and a case 1443/2020 u/s 344/326/34 IPC has been registered at Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station. However, the couple is still absconding and the police are in lookout of them.
