8 more tests +ve on Tuesday in Cachar including 8 from Cancer Hospital, day’s total 171

August 25: Another 8 positive cases were reported on Tuesday night from Cachar district. With this, the day’s total of COVID-19 positive cases has now gone upto 171. Out of the 171 cases, 113 were detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas, 58 persons were found positive in 4 slots of RT-PCR Test (1st slot: 14 positive cases, 2nd slot: 18 positive cases, 3rd slot: 16 positive cases & 4th slot: 10 positive cases). A total of 1058 Rapid Tests were done during the day. Further, 1 person has died at SMCH within the last 24 hours.

During the day, 8 persons (7 in 1st slot & 1 in 2nd slot) from Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC), Meherpur were detected positive. It needs mention here that on Monday, 13 patients of CCHRC were found positive. Prior to that, 2 doctors & 12 staff of the Cancer Hospital were tested positive. This has now became a major cause of concern both for the hospital authorities and also for the district health department. A source on condition of anonymity said that as huge number of visitors/ attendants come to see the patients, it may be possible that the virus may have spread through them. Moreover, at present, there is a huge rush of patients at CCHRC as those who used to go earlier in Mumbai, Kolkata, South India etc. for treatment are unable to move out due to the ongoing pandemic.

Apart from them, a 33-year-old male from ICCCI Bank, Cachar (As per SRF) was also found positive. He came by air from Imphal. Another physician, Dr. Alomita Paul Choudhury (29) from Jail Road, Silchar was detected as COVID-19 positive. She is symptomatic. Three more persons from the same family at Uttar Krishnapur Part-I, Lane No 7, Shivalik Park were detected corona positive. They are a 48 years old male, 42 years old female and a 19 years old female.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test, 18 persons were found positive. Out of them, 8 were found positive from Masimpur Military Station. Two persons from Tarapur Barman Road were also detected positive Three patients, one from Das Colony, another from Jirighat and the 3rd from Rongpur who are presently admitted with SARI symptoms at SMCH were also tested positive. A 58-year-old male from Lane No-9, Link Road tested positive during the day with ILI symptoms.

In the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test, 16 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. Out of them, two persons, a 25 years old female and a 27 years old male were found positive from Trinoyanee Lane, Sonai Road. Three more persons from a same family at Heritage Tower, 1st Link Road tested positive. Another 2 persons of a family at Rani Rashmoni Lane, CR Avenue were found positive. Two from a family at Satsang Road and 3 from another family at Itkhola were detected as corona positive during the day. All of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. Apart from them, some others from Bipin Chandra Paul Sarani, Satish Lane Tarapur, Cachar High School Road and Itkhola also tested positive.

In the 4th slot of RT-PCR Test, 10 more persons tested positive. They are from various parts of Cachar including Modhurband, NIT Silchar, Binnakandi, Katigorah, IAF Kumbhirgram, Bihara and Borjatrapur.
