1 more death at SMCH in last 24 hours

August 25: Since the last few days, Barak Valley witnessed many deaths due to COVID-19. The procession of death continued unabated in almost all the 3 districts of the valley with Cachar leading the tally. However, on Tuesday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed about only 1 death due to novel coronavirus in the valley.

The deceased was identified as Sanchay Dey (62) from Karimganj district. After testing positive, he was admitted at SMCH on 14 August. He breathed his last at 12.30 PM on 24 August. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that the deceased was suffering from COVID pneumonia. He said, “Inspite of all the best efforts, the man could not be saved.” He said that the case has been referred to State Death Audit Board.
