Ram Mandir Trust Head who shared stage with PM Modi in Ayodhya tests positive

August 13: The Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust chairperson Mahant Nritya Gopaldas was detected COVID-19 positive. He was on stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the groundbreaking ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on 5 August. Nritya Gopal Das, 82, was among the five people on the stage at the grand ceremony at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

Mathura district magistrate SR Mishra said, “Mahant Nitya Gopaldasji’s condition is stable. He is being shifted to Medanta Hospital.” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke to the district magistrate of Mathura and to Dr Trehan of Medanta and requested for immediate medical attention of Nritya Gopaldas at the hospital.

Days before the ceremony in Ayodhya, a priest, Pradeep Das, and 16 policemen in Ayodhya had also tested positive for coronavirus.  Priest Pradeep Das is one of the four priests who regularly perform puja at the Ram Temple site in Ayodhya.
