August 11: In recent times, a number of alleged ‘objectionable social media posts’ has led to filing of police complaints. In one such incident, an FIR was lodged against a boy for a video he posted in his Facebook wall. The FIR was lodged by Debdulal Bhattacharjee of Hindu Jagaran Manch, Silchar. As per sources, a case has been registered against the boy at Silchar Sadar Police Station u/s 294/295(A)/IPC and relevant section 67 of Information Technology Act.

In the said FIR, it was alleged that, “A person namely, Sahil Barlaskar (as mentioned in his Facebook account), who is a resident of Silcharhas posted an objectionable video in his Facebook account on 6 August, 2020, where he has given life threats to the Hindu community of Assam.” It was further alleged by the complainant that “By posting such videos, he tried to incite communal riots in our society. We believe his video can create social unrest and will disturb the peace and harmony in our society.”

So, what exactly did the boy exactly say in that video?

The complainant Debdulal Bhattacharjee in reply said that the boy was seen screaming in the video and in a tone of warning said, “The Hindus of Assam has now become extremely exuberant. But if the Muslims of Silchar comes out in the street, then there will be no space left for the Hindus anymore. I am warning you this.”
