63 new COVID-19 positive cases detected in Hailakandi; total tally 1,248

The number of active cases in the district is currently 342

August 7: 63 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Friday, taking the total tally to 1,248. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 63 positive cases detected on Friday, 58 cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

A total of 405 cases have been found positive under RAT so far with majority of them without travel history. 20 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total number of persons released to 898.The number of active cases in the district is currently 342.

35 persons are undergoing treatment at SK Roy designated COVID Civil Hospital, 21 at SMC&H, 41 at Algapur Model COVID Hospital, 8 at HPC’s Hospital COVID Care Centre, 72 at Adarsha Vidyalaya COVID Care Centre, 70 at Model School Girls’ Hostel COVID Care Centre, 82 at JNV COVID Care Centre, 7 under process and two under home isolation.

Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Six deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’. Only 5 persons are currently under facility quarantine centres while 6,443 under home quarantine. Of the 15,498 swab samples taken, 13,494 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 91 persons are awaited.

Meanwhile, the administration has stepped up Rapid Antigen Tests in view of several positive cases found in the community. 19 testing facility and swab collection centres have been opened in Hailakandi town and other parts of the district. The administration has urged the people to come forward voluntarily to get their swab tested to arrest further spread of the disease in the community.
