After 4th slot, 75 tests +ve in Cachar on Friday including a doctor, banker & health workers

July 31: On Friday night, 8 more persons were detected coronavirus positive in Cachar district after the declaration of the results of 4th slot of RT-PCR Test. Out of the eight, two of them are health workers. One is a technical staff of Department of Microbiology of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). His swab sample was collected on 31 July after he exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. The reports came on the same day and he tested positive. He is symptomatic. Another health worker associated with Saksham, Mithun Roy (36) also tested positive. His swab sample was also collected on Friday and the test reports came on the same day. He came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. He is asymptomatic.

Six others who tested positive as per the 4th slot are from Madhurband, Link Road-1 (Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), Radhamadhab Road, Veterinary, Silchar, 37 AR, C/O 99 APO (Influenza Like Illness (ILI) patient) and from Shivalik Park (through contact tracing). A doctor from Adi Shib Bari Lane (near Public School), Dr. Parmita Chakraborty was also detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test. However, it needs mention here that 2 out of the 8 positive cases detected in the 4th slot were actually from Jiribam in Manipur.

Earlier during the day, 67 persons tested positive in Cachar district. This information was provided by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on the basis of 3 slots of RTPCR Test and also Rapid Antigen test. 36 persons were detected positive in the RAT Test, whereas 31 tested positive in RT-PCR test.

In the results of 1st slot of RT-PCR Test, 2 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. Both of them are symptomatic. One of them from quarantine facility at Masimpur exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms and the other from Shib Bari Road, Tarak Nath Lane Tarapur had fever. Their swab samples were collected on 30 July and the positive report came on 31 July.

The 2nd slot of swab results contained particulars of 14 persons. Out of them, 2 are from Silchar town. A female from Tarapur came by air from Bangalore on 29 July and was subsequently tested positive. She is asymptomatic. Another female from Sarat Pally came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case and was later detected as COVID-19 positive on Friday. Others tested positive as per the 2nd slot of RTPCR test are from Ganganagar, Mohan Khal, Buribail Pt-II, Larsing Tea Estate, Barjatrapur, Srikona Part-I, Nutan Kanchanpur, Pechadahar, Tikol Basti and Bashkandi Pt-II.

Out of the 14 positive cases as per 2nd slot, 7 of them has got a travel history. All 7 persons came by air from Bangalore. Five of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case, one is a Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) case, while the details of one of them was not mentioned in the SRF.

The 3rd slot of RT-PCR test results contained particulars of 15 persons from Cachar district. Out of them, 3 persons were detected positive from Post Office, Silchar, while 1 from Head Post Office, Silchar. Another person from Punjab National Bank, Silchar also tested positive. All 5 of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. They are asymptomatic. Their swab samples were collected on 30 July and the positive report came on Friday.

Others detected positive in the 3rd slot are from various parts of Cachar including Palonghat, Nutan Kanchanpur, Bhairavpur Pt-V in Katigorah, Raipur (Krishnapur), Shuktola in Dholai, Islamabad in Bhaga Bazar, Gumra in Kandigram, Purundopur in Borkhola and Krishnapur Pt-I in Ranighat. These persons travelled from Bangalore to Cachar. They are all asymptomatic. Their swab samples were collected on 29 July and the positive report came on 31 July.

(Meanwhile, though the Cachar district health department gave the data of 75 positive cases (39 cases in 4 slots & 36 cases tested vide RAT), but State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Friday night stated that 140 positive cases were detected in Cachar on 31 July. Going by the data provided by the health minister, Cachar occupied the 2nd position in the state after Kamrup Metro in terms of detection of positive cases on Friday.)
