33 more tests +ve on Thursday night in Cachar, day’s total 124
July 30: Another 33 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive on Thursday night after the declaration of the results of 4th slot of RT-PCR Test. Earlier during the day, 91 persons were tested positive. That means, on Thursday, a total of 124 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Cachar on 30 July. However, till now results of some Rapid Antigen Test was awaited. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in cachar district has gone upto 1635.
The 4th slot of RT-PCR test result sheet contained information about 33 fresh cases of coronavirus in the district. The list contained names of 2 children from Tarapur, 2 from Ashram road, 2 from Shivalik Park, 3 from Janata Lane (New Market, Silchar). The other areas from where positive patients were detected as per the 4th slot are Chandicharan Road, Rangirkhari, Panchgori Road (Meherpur), Sahid Kamala Road, Durgapally, Fatak Bazar, PurnaPaul Road, Tarani Road, Radhamadhab BP School Road and Das Colony.
Earlier, in the 1st slot, 25 persons were detected as coronavirus positive. Out of them, 6 persons were tested positive from Uttar Krishnapur Part-III (Durgapally), 2 from CD Home at Meherpur, 2 from Athalbasti, 3 from Post Office, Silchar, 4 from Janiganj, 1 from Satsang Ashram Road, another from Bilpar. Apart from them, there were CRPF personnel in this list. Maximum of them in the 1st slot were detected through contact tracing. Some were tested positive through direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case.
The results of swab test published in the 2nd slot contained particulars of another 22 persons who were detected positive on Thursday. A 2-day old infant from Rangirkhari, Silchar who is presently at NICU Recovery Room, SMCH tested positive. 4 persons in connection with Valley Hospital were also detected positive. Apart from them, there were others in the positive list from Sonai Road, Meherpur, Berenga Part-I, Assam Rifles, Ghungoor, Ramnagar Khelma, Rosekandy, Lakhipur (Binnakandi) and Biva Lodge.
In the results provided in the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test, 10 persons were tested positive who are from various parts of Cachar including Tarapur, Botertol (Meherpur), Ambicapatty, Ghungoor, Deshobandhu Road, Tarani Road, SMCH and Chenkuri. However, apart from the 3 slots of RTPCR test results, many others were also detected positive through Rapid Antigen Test.
A large number of positive cases on Thursday were detected through contact tracing. Apart from this, cases on account of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) were also also found during the day. “What has come as matter of tension to the district health department is that the number of symptomatic cases are on the rise in Cachar. Earlier during the month, there was a decrease in the number of symptomatic cases, but now many patients with SARI & ILI symptoms are found in Cachar. We are sending these symptomatic patients to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH),” said Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert.
He further informed that 2 more COVID-19 patients have died in Cachar. Their details were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. The Board will give the final report as to whether these two deaths are exclusively due to coronavirus or not. The deceased were identified as Amarendra Biswas (55) from Ghoniala in Silchar and Mousumi Chanda Choudhury (21) daughter of Subhas Chandra Choudhury (21) from Borjalenga. (Earlier District Media Expert in his official statement informed that the decased is Subhas Chandra Choudhury, but later on he rectified his statement and informed that the deceased is his daughter Mousumi). Suman Choudhury said, “Though they were positive cases, but unless we get the report from Death Audit Board, we cannot categorise them as COVID deaths.” Both the deceased were admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in a critical condition.
He also stated that the last rites of the two deceased will be performed in their own localities. He said, “Yesterday also, a patient who died due to COVID was creamed at Silchar crematorium in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner and MLA Silchar. As because there arises no scope of any contamination from the dead body, so the government has decided to perform the last rites of the COVID related deceased in their respective areas.
