7 new +ve cases detected in Cachar, total active cases 94

July 4: On Saturday evening, 7 more COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Cachar district. With this, there are at present, 94 active cases in Cachar, out of which, 66 of them are undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), 10 admitted at SM Dev Civil Hospital Silchar and 18 at Army Hospital in Mashimpur.

Sharing this information, District Media Expert, Suman Choudhury said, “In the first slot on Saturday, 7 persons were tested corona positive in Cachar district. Out of the 7 new cases, 6 of them are in institutional quarantine facility. They were kept under quarantine at NIT Silchar and Sarla Birls School. All 6 of them has got travel history.”

However, the health department officials expressed anguish at the 7th patient, who does not have any travel history and rather was experiencing Influenza Like Illness (ILI). This patient, 35-years-old, Raja Sinha from Dudpatil, Part-V in Cachar went to SMCH, where he was screened. As he exhibited certain symptoms of coronavirus, so his throat swab was collected. He is presently in home quarantine. He will soon be brought to SIlchar by ambulance. Suman Choudhury further informed that this patient by profession is engaged in maintenance of ATM. His house will be made as a containment zone and the swab test of his family members will also be done.

The other six patients detected in Cachar on Saturday are: Shahnaz Hussain (18) from Didarkhush-I, Motinagar; Joirul Islam (25) from Jogodishpur-III in Katigorah; Both of them came from Bangalore. The other 4 positive patients are: Md. Sakib (38) from Ghoniala in Silchar, who came from Kolkata; Bipul Nath (43) from Panibhora in Malugram and came from Mumbai; Anand Chhetri (23) from Daily Bazar in Arunachal and travelled from Hyderabad and Mustafiz Ahmed (21) from Meherpur in Silchar who also came from Hyderabad.
