Action against 17 schools of Assam within 72 hours from where none passed HSLC: Himanta

June 7: There were was a time when not a single student from around 40 schools of Assam used to pass HSLC. In the last 5 years, the number of such schools have come down considerably. In 2019, there were 21 such schools in the state. This year, the HSLC results of SEBA, Assam was declared on 6 June. It was found that there are 17 such schools where not a single candidate has passed HSLC this year. Sharing this information during a press briefing on Sunday, State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that strict action will be taken and these schools will be shut down.

The minister informed that students of these 17 schools of the state will be transferred and admitted to the nearby schools. As regards the teachers of these schools non-performing schools, the minister informed that they will be transferred anywhere within the state within the next 72 hours. However, the minister did not disclose the name of these 17 schools.
