May 28: Another 33 new cases of COVID-19 positive were detected in Assam. This was conformed in a tweet by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. With this, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the state has gone up to 831, but the active cases at present are 737.

- 8 Kamrup Metro
- 7 Cachar
- 1 Hojai
- 1 Dima Hasao
- 2 Karimganj
- 2 Hailakandi
- 2 yet to be ascertained
As per sources, all patients from Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi are known to have a travel history.
