Preparation complete, 1st flight after lockdown to land in Silchar on Monday
May 24: After much confusion, finally flights are to land at Silchar airport on Monday. Sharing the information in its Facebook page Silchar Airport wrote, “We are delighted to announce that flight operations at #SilcharAirport is resuming from 25.05.2020. In the wake of #COVID19 we are prepared to ensure the safety of passengers. All are requested to follow the Air Travel guidelines & cooperate with officials at Airport.”
As per district administration sources, 380 passengers expected to arrive daily by air at Silchar Airport. Earlier on Saturday, DC Cachar, keerthi Jalli went on a round at Silchar Airport and took stock of the preparedness there. Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli met with the airport officials and sought the support of airport authorities in the fight against coronavirus. It was decided in the meeting that a number of centres (for collection of swab samples of passengers) would be set up in the airport premises after which the passengers would be escorted to quarantine centres. Medical teams will be deployed in the airport to screen all the passengers. A total of 380 passengers are expected to arrive here via flights per day.
