An awareness meeting on COVID-19 held at Cachar Zila Parishad

May 23: An awareness meeting on COVID-19 was held at the conference hall of Cachar Zila Parishad on Saturday, which was organised by District Administration Cachar. Deputy commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, MLA Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul, Chief Executive Officer Deepshikha Dey, President of Cachar Zilla Parishad Amitabh Rai, Padmasree Awardee Dr. Ravi Kannan, Assistant Commissioner Navaneta Hazarika, Special Executive Officer DRDA, Rasaraj Das and all the ZP President, AP members, GP Secretaries of Silchar Block took part in this meeting.

Speaking during the occasion, Keerthi Jalli said that although the district administration has set up many quarantine centers, everyone in every block of the district has to protect themselves from the spread of COVID-19 corona virus. She urged upon all to follow government guidelines, such as social distancing, using of masks, etc. She appealed to all not to go out of the house and avoid crowd unless it is absolutely necessary.

Padma Sree Dr. Kannan said that COVID-19 is a deadly disease. He spoke about the preventive measures to be adopted to be safe. He said as vaccine is not available, so only maintaining social distancing, wearing mask and avoiding mass gatherings are the only weapons in the fight against coronavirus.  MLA Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul also urged the people to strictly abide by the government guidelines and told the district administration to take appropriate action against the violators of the guidelines. Relevant speeches were also delivered by President of Cachar Zila Parishad, Amitabh Rai and CEO of Zila Parishad Deepshikha Dey.
