3217 people arrested so far in Assam for lockdown violation

April 26: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic followed by nationwide lockdown has brought life to a standstill. To break the chain of the deadly coronavirus, all were advised to stay indoors. However, violating government advisory and direction, many were found to loiter around in vehicles in many districts of Assam. The state police is in full vigil and have brought to book many in the state for violation of lockdown guidelines.

Till 26 April, a total of 3217 people were arrested by police from the different districts of Assam for lockdown violation. A total of 2333 incidents of lockdown violation were reported from the state, out of which 1469 cases were registered. 20291 vehicles and 25 boats were detained in this connection. An amount of Rs. 1,35,57,100/- was collected as fine from the violators. Assam Police has appealed to all to follow lockdown guidelines.
