So far 6459 swab tests & 91 rapid test done in Assam

April 24: So far, 6459 swab tests were done in Assam. Out of these, the highest number of tests, 3214 were done at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH). Till now, 35 patients tested positive in Assam, out of which, 19 of them were discharged, 1 died and 15 of them are active. This was stated by state Health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Friday.

He further said that, Assam now is in the possession of 2,46,000 PPE Kits, 35,000 N95 masks, 50 lakh triple layer mask. The minister also said that on Thursday following ICMR guidelines, rapid tests were done for 91 persons at Spanish Garden in Guwahati and all of them came out to be negative.

Further, again rapid tests were performed upon positive patients undergoing treatment at MMCH, who again proved to be positive. To ascertain the efficiency of the rapid test kits, 25 persons who were tested negative in Spanish Garden were randomly selected and their swab tests will be performed. The minister informed that if the results of the swab tests comes out to be negative, then this would proved the efficiency of the rapid test kits. Once this is proved, the rapid tests will be done in other parts of Assam.
