4 women arrested in chili powder incident case

করিমগঞ্জ জেলার মাগুরায় মহিলাকে মারধর করে যৌনাঙ্গে লঙ্কাগুঁড়ো লাগিয়ে দেওয়ার ঘটনায় চারজনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, ধৃতরা হৈমন্তিং চড়াই, রিল্লিনেই চড়াই, জনগিরই চড়াই ও তিন্নিলি চড়াই। চারজনই অভিযোগকারীর নিজস্ব সম্প্রদায়ভুক্ত। এজাহারে পুরুষদের জড়িত থাকারও অভিযোগ রয়েছে। এরা বর্তমানে পলাতক।

ঘটনার পরই আক্রান্ত মহিলা নাগরা পুলিশ চৌকিতে ছুটে গিয়েছিলেন। এজাহার রাখেননি ইনচার্জ। কিন্তু ঘটনার ভিডিও ফুটেজ ভাইরাল হওয়ায় ১০দিন পর মহিলা আদালতের দ্বারস্থ হন। এর পরেই পুলিশ ততপর হয়ে ওঠে। আদালতের নির্দেশের আগেই মামলা গ্রহণ করে তদন্ত শুরু করে। ডিএসপি (প্রবেশনারি) জিকিরানি মহন্তের নেতৃত্বে পুলিশবাহিনী মাগুরা গ্রাম থেকে মোট ১৯জন মহিলাকে থানায় তুলে আনে। লাগাতার জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ ও ভাইরাল হওয়া ভিডিও ফুটেজ  দেখে ৪জনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। পরে তাদের আদালতে তোলা হলে বিচারকের নির্দেশে বিচার বিভাগীয় হেফাজতে রাখা হয়। এ দিকে, ঘটনার দিন এজাহার না রাখায় নাগরা পুলিশ চৌকির ইনচার্জকেও শো-কজ করা হয়েছে।

September 23: Police have arrested 4 women in Kaimganj involved in physical abuse of a lady and applying chili powder in her private parts. The arrested women are Haimanti Charai, Rinnilai Charai, Jangirai Charai and Tinnili Charai. In the complaint lodged, the names of a few men were also mentioned. However, they all are absconding.

Just after the incident, the victim lady rushed to Nagora Police Station, but the In-charge of the police station denied to record her complaint. But when the video of the incident went viral in social media, the lady approached the judiciary. It is only after that the police jumped into action. Police started investigation even before the direction of the court in this regard. A police team lead by DSP (Probationary) Jikirani Mahanta reached Magura village and brought along with them 19 women for interrogation. On the basis of the video footage and interrogation, 4 women were arrested. Later on, they were produced in the court from where they were sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, the in-charge of Nagra Police Station was show caused for refusing to register the FIR on the day of the incident.
