100th birthday of elderly celebrated, joy all around the household

১৪ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ এই দিনের অপেক্ষাতেই ছিল গোটা পরিবার। অপেক্ষা করছিলেন স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামী জ্যোতস্নারানি সেন নিজেও। অবশেষে শতায়ু হলেন। আনন্দে মেতে উঠল ছেলে-মেয়ে-নাতি-নাতনিরা। ঘটা করে ১০০-তম জন্মদিন উদযাপন হল তাঁর ন্যাশনাল হাইওয়ের বাড়িতে।

বেশ কিছুদিন ধরে কানে শুনতে পান না তিনি।বার্ধক্যজনিত অন্যান্য শারীরিক সমস্যাও রয়েছে। তবু জন্মদিনের আনন্দ সব বাধাকেই দূরে সরিয়ে দেয়। নাতি-নাতনিরা বেলুন আর রঙিন কাগজে সাজিয়ে তোলেন দিদার ঘর। আনে কেকও।

এইভাবে মায়ের জন্মদিন আর কখনও পালিত হয়নি, বলছিলেন জ্যোতস্নাদেবীর ছোট ছেলে রূপক সেন। তিনিও ১০ বছর হল চাকরি থেকে অবসর নিয়েছেন। অন্য তিন ছেলে রূপেন্দ্রকুমার সেন, দীপকরঞ্জন সেন, বিপ্লব সেনও কবে থেকেই অবসরপ্রাপ্ত। সবাই সামিল হয়েছেন মায়ের জন্মদিনে। মেয়ে নন্দিতাও গিয়েছেন। আমন্ত্রিতদের তালিকায় ঘনিষ্ঠ আত্মীয়দের কেউ বাদ পড়ে যায় কিনা, সতর্ক ছিলেন সবাই। দীপকবাবু বললেন, তবু অনেককে বলা যায়নি। পড়শিরা অবশ্য অনেকেই উপস্থিত ছিলেন। সবাইকে দেখে শতবর্ষেও চনমনে হয়ে ওঠেন জ্যোস্নাদেবী। বলছিলেন, এমন দিনে কত কথাই না মনে পড়ছে। স্কুলজীবন, স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম, দেশভাগ, বিয়ে, বৈধব্য। জীবনে কত কীই না দেখলাম—হাসিকান্না, সুখদুঃখ।

September 14: The entire family was eagerly waiting for the day. Even freedom fighter Jyotshna Rani Sen was herself very much eager to see the day when she would score a century of her life. Finally, the much awaited day came. Everyone in the house floated in waves of happiness. Her birthday was celebrated in a befitting manner at her house in National Highway, Silchar.

Due to old age, she has been suffering from hearing disability and other old age related ailments. However, all these physical problems were outnumbered by the joyous celebration today. Her grandchildren decorated the entire house with balloons. A beautiful cake was also ordered for the day.

Rupak Sen, the youngest son of Jyotshna Rani Sen said that the birthday of his mother was never ever celebrated in such a manner. He has retired from service 10 years ago. Her three other sons Rupendra Kumar Sen, Dipak Ranjan Sen and Biplob Sen have also retired from service long ago. All assembled together to celebrate the 100^th birthday of their mother. Her daughter Nandita also came to witness the historic moment. All their kith and kin were invited to their house. Jyotshna Rani Sen was extremely happy to see all her dear and near ones. She recalled the various phases of her life and participated in the celebrations.
