Kuki National Front to boycott Independence Day Celebrations

In response to the indifferent attitude of the central government towards the Kukis and also its refusal to acknowledge the contribution and sacrifice of their ancestors towards the Indian Freedom movement, the Kuki National Front (NEHLUN) [KNF(N)] has decided to boycott the Independence Day celebrations.

In a press release issued by the KNF(N), it was stated that “Total shutdown will be imposed in the entire district of Manipur from August 14 midnight to August 15 midnight They have further accused the central government on the issue of the Framework Agreement. It was categorically stated in the press release that this Agreement is totally unacceptable to them. They have further lamented on the issue that “the Kukis have been denied their rightful political status in their very own Kukiland.
