Heavy vehicles exceeding 15 MT barred from S.J. Road-Chesri Gonigram Road in Cachar

way2barak, October 31:– In view of the ongoing construction of the road connecting S.J. Road to Chesri Gonigram under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Public Works Roads Department (PWRD) has imposed restrictions on the movement of heavily loaded vehicles along the stretch.

According to a notification issued by the Executive Engineer, PWRD, Borkhola and Katigorah Territorial Road Division, Katigorah, vehicles having a Gross Laden Weight (GLW) exceeding 15 Metric Tonnes (MT) will not be permitted to ply on the road. The restriction has been imposed as the construction work is nearing completion and the road being developed under PMGSY, is not designed to withstand the movement of heavily loaded vehicles and excessive axle loads.

The order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. The restriction is intended to protect the newly constructed road infrastructure from damage caused by excessive vehicular loads and to ensure its durability for the benefit of the public.

The department has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the public and appealed for cooperation from all concerned.

This is stated in a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relation Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, Assam.
