Cachar Admin cancels pre-poll leave ahead of Silchar Civic Election

way2barak, September 9:- With the Silchar Municipal Corporation Election, 2026 scheduled for October 3 and counting of votes set to begin from October 6, the Cachar district administration has issued directions to ensure the uninterrupted availability of government and institutional personnel throughout the election process.

As per an order issued by the District Election Officer and District Commissioner, Cachar, Shri Rahul Kumar Gupta, IAS, all employees of the Central and State Governments, PSUs, State PSUs, banks, educational institutions and other government-related establishments in the district have been directed not to leave Cachar district without prior approval of the District Election Officer or the ADC in-charge of the Election Personnel Cell.

The order further states that all types of leave sanctioned by the competent authorities of departments within the district prior to the announcement of the Silchar Municipal Corporation Election, 2026, shall stand cancelled, except leave granted on medical grounds.

The directions have come into force with immediate effect and will remain applicable until completion of the election process.
