Cachar set for first ASUSE survey, 48 villages and urban blocks picked

way2barak, September 3: —Cachar district is set to witness the first Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) in Assam with 48 villages and urban blocks selected for the field exercise.

The survey is being undertaken by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Government of Assam, through its district and sub-divisional offices under the guidance of the National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India.

The exercise will generate important data on unincorporated non-agricultural establishments and their contribution to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Assam. The information collected will also be used for various other statistical and economic purposes.

In Cachar, 48 sample locations comprising rural villages and urban blocks, including parts of wards under the Silchar Municipal Corporation and other municipal areas, have been selected for the survey. Enumerators and supervisors from the Office of the Deputy Director of Economics and Statistics, Cachar, Silchar will visit the selected locations for collection of information from establishments covered under the survey.

The field personnel will interact with respondents and collect the required details as per the prescribed survey methodology. Cooperation from respondents and local communities will be crucial for ensuring accurate data collection and completing the exercise within the stipulated period.

The Economics and Statistics department has appealed to residents, business establishments and other stakeholders in the selected areas to extend all possible cooperation to the enumerators and supervisors during their field visits. People have also been requested to help create awareness about the survey and facilitate the field staff in carrying out the data collection process.

Officials said the information generated through the survey would provide a clearer picture of economic activities undertaken by unincorporated establishments in the non-agricultural sector. The data would also help in assessing the sector’s contribution to the state’s economy and provide useful inputs for economic analysis and planning.

The Deputy Director of Economics and Statistics, Cachar, Silchar has appealed to all concerned to extend their cooperation to the field teams and help ensure the smooth and successful completion of the survey.
